The Department of Statistics and Econometrics is one of the newest departments in the college. The department was established in the year 2000, which came to meet the requirements of the labor market in the need for specialized human resources in the field of statistics and econometrics. The Department of Statistics and Econometrics seeks to achieve its mission by providing educational programs of high quality. Through the diversity of teaching methods and comprehensive curricula related to the needs of society and the labor market, it also aims to expand the postgraduate program for the master’s stage, as it provides statistical and econometric assistance to non-specialists in the fields of statistics and econometrics through training courses, workshops and consultations.

Objectives

  • Graduating specialized statistical cadres to carry out statistical tasks in the various state institutions.
  • Providing statistical and econometric assistance to non-specialists in the fields of statistics and econometrics through training courses, workshops and consultations.
  • Preparing and graduating a specialized cadre trained in modern statistical methods and qualified to carry out statistical and administrative jobs.
  • Graduating statistical economic cadres that contribute effectively to solving quantitative economic problems.

Tasks

  • Studying statistics within the context of the disciplines of management, economics, planning and accounting, and focusing on the applied statistical aspect to study economic phenomena.
  • Developing the use of computer software in statistical analysis.Enable the student to comprehend and deal with statistical methods, understand the methods and be able to interpret them.
  • Closer cooperation with economic institutions through conducting studies and preparing research.
